The Kidderminster Story takes us back almost 1300 years to the very birth of the town and follows its evolution up to the present time. It looks at the physical changes that have shaped Kidderminster over the centuries, from the construction of the first church overlooking the Stour to the development of Weaver’s Wharf.
The DVD looks back at the outstanding events in the town’s history, including the English Civil War that tore Kidderminster apart; the 19th Century weavers riots, and the impact of two world wars.
It also reveals the hidden stories from Kidderminster’s past, for example, we discover why Broadwaters became an early centre of industry, why Richard Baxter was nearly stoned to death by the women of Kidderminster, and why Kidderminster was once described as ‘the most disagreeable town in England’.
This entertaining journey through time is produced exclusively for the Shuttle, it will appeal to anyone who has an interest in Kidderminster and anyone wants to get to know it better.
The DVD is narrated by award winning actor Howard Ellison and the running time is approx. 50 minutes.
