With archive cine-film, old photos and the archives of the Bath Chronicle, this superb DVD takes a fascinating look back at life in Bath from 1840 to the 1970’s.

The story starts in August 1840, as cheering crowds greet the arrival of the railway, and ends in 1973, with Bath commemorating one of the highlights of its ancient history. The DVD includes extraordinary colour film of the aftermath of the Bath Blitz.

Combined with the moving eye-witness accounts from the Chronicle, we recall the most dramatic event in Bath’s history. Remarkable film of the city centre in the 1960’s shows the many changes that took place as Bath was rebuilt, and more fascinating film shows the visit of the Queen in 1973 to join in a special anniversary for the city.
