Wirral The Way We Were

£13.50

This new DVD uses unique archive film to show views of the Wirral that are now consigned to history; it records many of the changes as they happened; and it brings to life some of the memorable events of the 20th Century.

Wirral The Way We Were provides an unrivaled insight into life in the district from the early 1900s to the 1970’s. Among the many nostalgic scenes from the past, we see crowded ferries at Seacombe; carefree holiday crowds at New Brighton; people strolling along the Parade at Parkgate; rowing boats on Raby Mere; sailing at West Kirby; adn even swimming in the Manchester Ship Canal at Ellesmere Port. On  more serious note, the DVD shows many aspects of local life during World War 2, including supplying gas masks in Wallasey; evacuation of local children; Home Guard exercises; and the devastation caused by air raids in Birkenhead and Wallasey.
